Registry rule meant to be broken: Mix + match your china. Perhaps choose a solid staple of a dinner plate but from there have some fun! China should be used often and interchangeably with everyday items. It should be unique to you + the functions of your day to day life.

Go to engagement or wedding gift: I love a good themed gift! Collecting several fun items of a certain genre catered to the couples taste. For example, if the couple loves to bake together, rather than just buying a baking dish off their registry, I would buy the dish but fill it with a custom apron, cooking tools and even throw in my own favorite recipes to share!

Unsung hero of registries: Wine glasses! We use and replace these constantly with hosting and entertaining. I feel like you can never have enough. Skip the customized glasses that serve only one purpose and increase quantity of the tried and true!
